PASALB AGM and Chair’s Report 2022

PASALB AGM and Chair’s Report 2022

This report updates on the AGM and chairs report for 2022.

We did a full report of our 2020 AGM – the first and hopefully last conducted by Zoom, as it fell during the pandemic – details here.
We did not publish a summary of the 2021 AGM , or the Chair’s report, but last year the committee were re-elected, and again this year with the addition of new committee member Mark Swainston. New committee members are always welcome! Chair Greg Foxsmith extended thanks to a fantastic committee for their hard work over the last few years.
This has been a most unusual few years for PASALB.

The period of pandemic where we were reduced to watching matches, home and away, for a £10 fee, staring at a laptop or phone, whilst players ran up and down, huffing and puffing in front of an empty stadium was, frankly, rubbish.

The joy of Argyle’s previous promotion- a fantastic achievement by Ryan Lowe and the team- was not
replicated in our first season back in league one, with a terrible finish contributing to a poor final position.
The following season improved, and currently we have achieved our best start to a league campaign for a Century!

The club remains financially stable. So do we, thanks to the support of our members, and the careful stewardship of our treasurer Neil “Bavvers” Bavington. We have been able to continue our support for the Argyle Womens team when they are in action in the SouthEast. We previously sponsored a player Panagiota, and were delighted to renew that for the third successive season- see here https://www.pasalb.london/pasalb-sponsors-giota/

The PASALB fantasy league continues, and the trophy passed from Simon Walker to Tom Harris and back again, before moving to last season’s winner Michael Savage. More info (and an update on this season so fa)r here https://www.pasalb.london/pasalb-pl-fantasy-football-competition-21-22/

PASALB sponsored a match-ball last season at an Argyle home game, with PASALB having a table in the sponsor’s area pre-match and a mention in the programme. This season we were sponsors of the Green Taverners for Argyle’s first home game of the season.

In 2020 PASALB significantly backed the Jack Leslie Campaign, and this year the statue was unveiled with PASALB for our contribution- see here https://www.pasalb.london/pasalb-supports-jack-leslie/

In November 2021 Ryan Lowe attended his third and final “Meet the Manager” event with us, just before the Charlton game. We lost that game and that manager , but fortunes have improved since then and we look forward to meeting Stephen Schumacher for Meet the Manager soon.
Thanks to all who have attended APFSCIL meetings, and those who run or participate in our sports teams-
Darts, Pool. although the football league is under threat. As always, let us know if you are interested in joining one of our teams, or a whatsApp group for Argyle travel (mens) or supporting the women’s team.

I also put on record my thanks to committee member Aaron Hocking for fantastic travel guides, last year and this- both are brilliant.

I am delighted to confirm that once again we are freezing our subscription at £10- please contact us if you have not renewed already via Paypal.

Thanks for being part of the PASALB family- keeping London Green!
